As temperatures start to drop in West Covina, so has the rain. This week alone it has rained a total of three times flooding MECA’s blacktop and fields, causing MECA’s softball team to cancel many practices and games.
With muddy fields, MECA’s softball game on Friday, November 21, 2025, had to be canceled, becoming the second game out of three games to be canceled since the season started.
“We’ve officially had the shortest season ever thanks to the constant rain and super muddy fields,” said softball coach Claire Contreras.
And with practices being canceled, MECA’s softball team has had no way of practicing. However, there is still hope; according to The Weather Channel, there will be no rain for the rest of the semester.
With the skies clearing, MECA’s softball team has started up their practices again, with the next one happening after school on Thursday, Dec. 4th.
Unfortunately, the next softball game will not be until after school returns from winter break.
Hopefully, the weather continues to shine in January to allow the team to showcase their talents.

Wow this is really good information to know. I hate that big puddle near the basketball courts it always intervenes when we are playing. That sucked that the softball team had to move all the rest of their games to after winter break.
