At Mt. SAC Early College Academy, senior Anthony Reyes has grown significantly throughout his high school years. When he first came to MECA in his junior year, he was very active in student life. He created the recycling club and has been the president.
“When I first came to MECA, I was super nervous. I had no friends. But then I found my friend group, and so I was engaged and being active with my friends, said Reyes. “I think this school is awesome, and honestly, I love this school like I just love this school so much, honestly.”
Anthony is very outgoing. He always hangs out with his friends and is very active and engaged. Among his friends, he is very influential; he makes people who hang out with him always be very energetic.
“The recycling club is actually going well, and I love being the leader, and it sucks I’m a senior, because I can’t be the leader of the recycling club after this year, but I love the recycling club,” said Reyes.
He took the place of the leader of the recycling club because he wants to make the environment of MECA and its surroundings cleaner. So that the students have a better environment in which to be educated. The recycling club is dedicated to keeping MECA clean.
“We just have lunch, or after school, we’ll go to the recycling cans. People would bring their water bottles and cans to donate to us. But we do it to try and raise that money so we can maybe do a raffle for a promotion ticket, or something like that. We really care about giving back to school in our community,” Reyes said.
Not only does he work hard for the recycling club, but he also has a dream of attending either Cal State Fullerton or APU. He has also stated that he wants to go to college to not only get an education but also have fun in college to make it an unforgettable memory.
“I like the events that happen there, and I feel like if I go to college, I don’t just go to school for going to school. I also want to have my college time be fun,” said Reyes.
