Courtney Bell, journalism and English teacher, and Amelia Macias Lee, office secretary, were chosen as the MECA employees of the 2026 year.
Bell was the teacher chosen this year to win the Certified Staff of the Year (for teachers and counselors) for MECA.
Macias Lee was the very special staff member this year to win the WCUSD Classified Employee of the Year; what makes it even more spectacular was that she won for both MECA and the whole WCUSD.Â
Bell and Macias Lee will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 12 at Edgewood IB Schools Cafeteria.
In past years, Gabe Nichols, Joshua Del Real, Jeanne Berrong, and Bobby Sanchez have won.
