Waking up an hour early in the spring is a normal occurrence for most Americans. While there are benefits to doing this, some describe adjusting to this time change as a soul-wrenching, bone-crushing, blood-boiling, horrifying, and wretched change to one’s day.
In 2018, California proposed a new law, “Proposition 7.” This law states that California will remain on Daylight Saving Time year-round, provided the change is permitted under federal law. Doing this would allow people to keep a consistent schedule without having to change the time by one hour ahead or behind based on the season. The bill itself was voted to get passed in California, but never made it out of Congress, as it still sits as one of the bills needed to be approved.
Originally, daylight saving was used by the Germans in World War I, but was adopted by the US to conserve fuel and energy, as it would reduce the need for artificial lighting by extending daylight hours into the evening. In current times, the use of daylight saving is debated a lot. Many people say that it is a pointless change, while others say it is for the safety of children and a time for leisure.
This year, daylight saving started on March 9, 2026. This pushed the clock time one hour ahead, jumping from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. This means you wake up an hour early and go to sleep an hour early. This year, Daylight Saving Time will end on Sunday, Nov. 1. Until then, the clock will be kept an hour ahead until the beginning of fall.
As life goes on, people will continue to argue about whether the practice of daylight saving time should end or continue. In the end, people will change the clocks if it is necessary and adjust to the time change, no matter how inconvenient the time change is.

I think that we don’t need daylight savings time because there could be some kids that live farther away and don’t get home ’til later and daylight savings could lead to them not getting their needed sleep. Also, if they live farther away, they could possibly be driving home in the dark which is dangerous.
