Timberwolves Defeat Cougars | MECA Holds 3-0 Record

Since the season-opening game on Friday, Jan. 30, the Mt SAC Early College Academy Timberwolves Soccer team stands at 3-0 this season, taking no losses as of now. So far, the Timberwolves have defeated the Sierra Mountain Lions, the San Antonio Lions, and the Coronado Cougars.

Today—Friday, Feb. 13—the Timberwolves had their first away game of the season. Visiting Coronado High School and facing off against the Cougars. Once again, it was a close match but the Timberwolves came out victorious, winning 4-3.

The previous game of the season, which took place on Friday, Feb. 6, was a home match against the San Antonio Lions. It was a very close game with the Lions’ defense creating a challenge for the MECA Timberwolves offense. However, they pulled through, winning 8-6.

The Timberwolves’ defense struggled with the stronger offensive side from San Antonio High School. However, goalkeeper Juan Franco (10), as well as the rest of the Timberwolf offense, kept the game alive, pulling out a win.

The season opener which was on Jan. 30 was another home game between the  Timberwolves faced off against the Sierra High School Mountain Lions to open the season on Jan. 30. The match turned out to be a blowout, dominated by the Timberwolves’ offense with a final score of 10-3. 

The Timberwolves’ defensive side also shone in the match against the Lions, keeping the ball out of reach and over the heads of the opponents. Bella Tavera-Gonzalez (11) played the goalkeeper for this match and was a defensive powerhouse, only allowing three goals from the opposing team.It is clear that the MECA Timberwolves have been on a hot streak, securing three consecutive wins, go Timberwolves!
