Noah Martinez is a junior attending Mt. SAC Early College Academy (MECA). He has a wide range of interests, from science and coding to history, travel, and art.
Noah chose to apply to MECA because of its strong academic focus and close-knit community. “I get to actually know the staff a lot more than I would at a larger school,” Martinez said. His favorite subject is science, as it allows him to experiment and explore how things function.
Outside of the classroom, Noah enjoys coding and problem-solving. In a class he took, he learned how to create an add-on for Amazon’s Alexa that allowed users to pick a few phrases to trigger specific responses.
Traveling is another one of Noah’s favorite pastimes. He has visited places such as Philadelphia, Mexico, and Hawaii. His favorite part of exploring the world is “just seeing different perspectives of food and pretty much spots to see nature.” He especially enjoyed his trip to Pennsylvania, where he went sightseeing and watched a Civil War reenactment.
His interest in history extends into his hobbies as well. Martinez enjoys playing War Thunder, a game that simulates large-scale battles across land, air, and sea. In the simulation, players can command thousands of historical vehicles from World War II through modern times. Martinez created an artistic interpretation inspired by this game, which is one of his favorite art pieces to this day.

Martinez enjoys exploring different forms of art, particularly digital art, where he can use technology to bring his ideas to life. He says the best part about being an artist is seeing “the actual full creation turnout, how you imagine it, and other people’s reaction to it.”
With his creativity and drive to learn, Martinez hopes to pursue graphic design in the future.
