Strawberry Crunch. Cookie Monster. Red Velvet. These are some of the cookie flavors that freshman Alemi Rivera Solani’s business, Alemi’s Desserts, sells.
She started her cookie-making business in October as a fun hobby to pass the time. She was inspired by some of her friends from middle school and people she saw online.
“I started making cookies because I thought it was like a fun hobby to do, and it would take up most of my time, as I usually have free time, and I’ve always gotten inspired by other people,” Rivera said
Her efforts sure are paying off, gaining several raving reviews. Sophomore Diamond Rangel describes her cookies as mouth-wateringly delicious, despite not being a “cookie person” herself.

“I’m not really a cookie person, you know. I love her cookies. Her cookies are extremely good.” Rangel said.
Having only started a few weeks ago, she doesn’t have many cookies, but Rivera did state her plans to expand her menu more.
“I might add cookies and cream or like, a holiday cookie, like seasonal,” Rivera said.
Her menu currently has flavors like Strawberry Crunch, a strawberry cookie with waffle cones for the crunch; Cookie Monster, a blue chocolate cookie with little white eyeballs; Red Velvet, a dark red cookie topped with Nutella icing; and S’mores, a graham cracker flavor with chocolate icing and a little marshmallow.
With her Red Velvet and Strawberry Crunch sold at $2 and Cookie Monster and S’mores being $3, there’s no doubt why people love her cookies.
Fellow freshman Connie Molinda states, “I usually spend $12 or $15 dollars every week because they are so good and flavorful.”
Rangel admitted to spending, “$6 because I usually get two S’mores.”
With the prices she offers and the amazing taste that her cookies have, it’s not a surprise to hear how much people spend.

Rangel and Molinda both share the exact same love for her cookies, down to their favorite flavor: the S’mores cookie.
“My favorite cookie is the S’mores cookie, [it’s] so crunchy, so good, and soft,” said Molinda, raving about the cookie.
“The S’mores, you could never go wrong with a good chocolatey feeling, it’s a perfect mix of the sweet with the graham cracker taste, and like, it’s so good,” said Rangel.
If you are looking to find Rivera to get some cookies during school, she can be found sitting near Ms. Bahn’s room.

You can also contact Rivera through her business Instagram, which is @alemissdezzertss. Students can send her a follow request and message her, placing an order for what cookies they would like, and how many of each.
Students of MECA can also purchase cookies without placing an order, as long as Rivera has any extra cookies and is done selling for the day.
While it might seem easy, there are several pros and cons to running a cookie business on your own. As Rivera states, “The pros of making cookies are really just the decorating part and like, getting to sell them to people. You know, those are the pros and obviously the profit, but the cons are like the time that it takes, and having to do everything so neatly.”
Rivera leaves some words for her fellow students and community: “Thank you for taking the time to read about and support my cookie business, and thank you for being invested!”
