Prom has been a rite of passage for many seniors and juniors over the years. Students love to go shopping with friends and dress up for the big event. What most people don’t see is just how much planning goes into these dances. It raises many questions: “When do I buy my outfit?” “Who am I going with?” and “Is prom even important?”
I would say prom is an important event for any high schooler, especially seniors. For high school seniors, prom is not only their final dance but also their final event as high schoolers, making it more special and emotional.
Prom is so important to seniors and juniors that small traditions have emerged from the event, such as taking pictures before prom and eating out with friends afterward!
Many go to different areas, even venues, to get their pictures in their beautiful dresses. Most bring along their friends and dates to join in for group pictures.
This has been going on for years. too. Back when my older sister was in high school, she also had her picture taken. She and her friends went to Snow Creek Park in Walnut.
Prom pictures are something to enjoy looking back on and remembering all your old memories of high school. I, myself, will be taking pictures with my group of friends.
With how much time and effort is put into prom, it just goes to show how important prom can really be. Which is why every student deserves an amazing outfit.
“When am I supposed to shop for prom?” is a question I have not only asked myself but also others, too. I believe a month prior is a reasonable time for students to start shopping for prom. There would be no worrying about shipping if you ordered your outfit online. There are many instances of something going wrong with packages, and they end up getting to their destination late. Ordering your outfit a month prior allows there to be no worries about the outfit being late. Plus, it can give you time if you need to get it altered.
Another benefit is being able to get the first pick of the outfits! When shopping closer to the day of prom, most nice outfits get snatched up right away.
For me, I have chosen to shop a month prior and will be going shopping sometime in early April. As a senior, this last prom will be even more special as it will also be my first time going to prom, as I never went in my junior year.
With that said, the theme for this year’s MECA prom is Bond Night, as in the iconic James Bond. So juniors and seniors, snatch up your outfits quickly and make sure to show up to MECA’s prom on May 2!
