Last Friday, Feb. 28, MECA ASB members helped set up the third house competition, which was inspired by the Winter Olympic Games. Members had set up chairs, tents, posters, and refreshments for teachers and staff. Both students and staff participated in games such as the torch, dog sled game, penguin games, and snow plow.
Each game had about three to four players per team. All grades gathered and formed teams to compete against other grade levels. The top rankings were the sophomore class, which placed first in the torch, dogsled, and penguin games. The senior class also ranked first in the snowplow game. One of the four games played was the dogsled game, where the junior class was pulling Claire Contreras, the MECA high school counselor, and the sophomore class was pulling Gabe Nichlos, the History and ASB teacher here at MECA.
To cool off from the heat, ASB students sprayed water onto students, blew bubbles, and handed out slapsticks to spread the school spirit. If you wish to hear more about the personal experiences of students and staff, then be on the lookout for the MECA Olympic Games broadcast coming soon.
