90’s Male Heartthrobs: Did time treat them well?

Categories:

Back in the 90s, these men were on the front page of magazines, on posters, and in everyone’s minds. Although time treats everyone differently, public opinions about these well known heartthrobs have definitely changed overtime. Whether it’s because of changes in their looks, their personalities, or what they’ve been up to. Let’s take a look at how they ended up and what fans think of them today.

Aged Well

Paul Rudd

Rather than aging, Paul Rudd is one of those guys who didn’t just age well but didn’t age at all! He looks almost the same now as he did in the 90s. Most people know him as Ant-Man in the Marvel movies like Ant-Man and Avengers: Endgame, but before all that, he was already famous for roles in 90s hits like Clueless and Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. Fans still love him for his funny personality and his secret to never looking older.

Patrick Dempsey

Patrick Dempsey is best known today for playing Dr. Derek Shepherd, a.k.a Dr. McDreamy, on Grey’s Anatomy, but he was already stealing hearts back in the 90s. He starred in movies like Can’t Buy Me Love, where he played the nerdy and awkward guy everyone loved. Unlike some stars who never seem to age, Dempsey has definitely changed over the years, but in a good way. He’s older now but still handsome and stylish, proving that aging doesn’t mean losing your looks but enhancing it instead.

Will Smith

Will Smith is another massive superstar who seems like he hasn’t really changed, besides growing out some facial hair. Most people know him as an actor from his numerous popular movies or even for his hilarious personality, but he also had a musical career as a rapper in the 90s, with hits like “Men in Black” and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It.” Smith has not lost his charm and is still looking as great as ever.

Mario Lopez

Mario Lopez is another 90s heartthrob who somehow never seems to age. He’s best known for playing A.C. Slater on the sitcom, Saved by the Bell, where he rocked the mullet haircut. These days, he’s a TV host on shows like Access Hollywood and still looks almost exactly the same as he did back then. People are always amazed at how he’s managed to stay so fit and young looking, it’s like time just skipped over him.

Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt has definitely aged like fine wine. He was a huge star in the 90s with movies like Fight Club and Legends of the Fall, and today, he’s still one of Hollywood’s most talked-about actors. Over the years, he’s been in the spotlight not just for his looks, but also for his scandals and gossip over his past relationships. He was rumored to have cheated on Jennifer Aniston with Angelina Jolie, and later, it was said he cheated on Jolie as well. That gave some fans the ick, but it doesn’t change the fact that he’s aged almost perfectly. His karma must be great because he’s still charming, successful, and just as handsome as ever.

Did Not Age So Well

Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio became a huge star in the 90s, especially after his role as Jack in Titanic and Romeo and Juliet, which made him a worldwide heartthrob. While he’s still a very talented actor with lots of big movies that he’s starred in, some fans think he hasn’t aged as well as others. Physically, he looks older now, which is totally normal, but what really makes people talk is how he keeps dating women half his age. People even seemed to notice that the relationship breaks off when the girl turns around 25 years old. For some fans, that makes him seem less attractive than he used to be.

Andrew Keegan

Andrew Keegan was a popular teen heartthrob in the 90s, especially known for his role as the narcissistic pretty boy in 10 Things I Hate About You. Back then, he had the classic good looks that made fans go insane. But as time went on, he didn’t really age as well as some of his fellow 90s stars. He looks a little different now and some fans feel like he lost that spark he had when he was younger.

Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp is a well-known name in Hollywood, with iconic roles in movies like Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. He’s known for his unique style, interesting characters, and amazing acting skills. But when it comes to aging, some fans think he hasn’t held up as well as others. Over the years, his appearance has changed and while he’s still a talented actor, many agree he doesn’t look quite like the heartthrob he once was.

Robert Sean Leonard

Robert Sean Leonard was a heartthrob in both the 80s and 90s, known for his roles in Dead Poets Society and later in the medical drama, House. Some of his 90’s movies consisted of The  Boys Next Door and Standoff, where his good looks surely stole the show. But over the years, he certainly aged, and not in the way fans had hoped. He looks a lot different now and while he’s still respected for his work, many agree he didn’t keep that heartthrob image as time went on.

Josh Hartnett

Josh Hartnett was a major heartthrob in the late 90s and early 2000s, starring in some horror movies like Halloween H20: 20 Years Later and The Faculty, as well as action movies like, Black Hawk Down. He had that very strong but mysterious look that made him a favorite among a variety of fans in the 90’s and 2000’s. But as time passed and he aged, fans believe he lost the spark that he once had back in his older days, especially with his newer movie roles as a killer in one of his latest movies, Trap.

Looking back at these 90’s heartthrobs, it’s clear that time doesn’t treat everyone the same. There are stars like Brad Pitt and Patrick Dempsey, who aged gracefully, while some stars like Robert Sean Leonard and Johnny Depp, who didn’t really hold onto their teen looks. In another case, there are other big names like Paul Rudd and Will Smith who seem to not have aged at all! Whether they aged like fine wine or not, each of these men left their own mark on pop culture and a majority of fans won’t forget their impact.
