Contest Dates: December 1-12, 2024
Prize: One (1) $50 Amazon Gift Card
How to Enter
- Read any article published on mtsacecachronicle.com
- Post a thoughtful comment on the article
- Use your School Email or Full Name
- Each approved comment = one raffle entry
- Maximum: One entry per day (one comment per day counts)
Comment Requirements
To qualify as a valid entry, your comment must:
✓ Be at least 2-3 complete sentences
✓ Reference something specific from the article (a quote, fact, perspective, or event mentioned)
✓ Show that you actually read the content
✓ Be respectful and appropriate for a school publication
Examples of GOOD comments:
- “I found it interesting that the drama department is performing Hamilton this year. The article mentioned they’ve been rehearsing since September, which shows real dedication. I’m excited to see how they handle such a challenging show!”
- “This article about the new lunch options really resonated with me. The point about needing more vegetarian choices is something I’ve been thinking about too. I’m glad to see student government is listening to feedback.”
Examples of comments that WON’T count:
- “Great article!”
- “Nice job”
- “I agree”
- “This is cool”
Important Rules
One Entry Per Day: You can only submit ONE qualifying comment per day. Additional comments on the same day won’t count as extra entries.
All Comments Moderated: Comments must be approved by Chronicle staff to count as valid entries. We will review comments regularly throughout the contest period.
No Spam or Duplicates: Posting the same or very similar comments on multiple articles will result in disqualification.
Current Mt. SAC ECA Students Only: This contest is open only to currently enrolled students at Mt. SAC Early College Academy.
Use Your School Email and/or Full Name: Comments must use your school email real and/or use both your first and last name to be eligible. Anonymous comments will not count.
Timeline
- November 21: Contest announcement and rules posted
- December 1: Contest begins – start reading and commenting!
- December 12: Last day to submit comments (entries accepted until 11:59 PM)
- December 13: Winner will be randomly selected
- December 15: Winner announced on the website and via email
How the Winner Will Be Selected
- All approved comments from December 1-12 will be counted
- Each qualifying comment = one entry with your name
- We will use a random number generator to select the winning entry
- The winner will be contacted via the email provided with their comment
- Winner must claim prize by December 20, 2024
