Photography
Love taking pictures? In yearbook, you’ll level up from phone photos to becoming a real photographer! We’ll put a professional DSLR camera in your hands and teach you all the secrets of taking amazing shots – from capturing the perfect touchdown at Friday night football to catching genuine smiles at school events. You’ll learn cool techniques like how to use lighting, framing, and different camera settings to make your photos pop. Plus, we’ll show you how to edit your photos like a pro using Photoshop. Whether you’re already into photography or just getting started, you’ll be amazed at how quickly you can go from taking basic snapshots to creating stunning images that will be treasured for years to come!

Design
Ever dreamed of being a creative director? In yearbook, you’ll get to help design a whole book from cover to cover! We’re not just throwing pictures on pages – you’ll be part of choosing an amazing theme that sets the tone for the entire yearbook. Last year’s team created a stunning Pandora’s Box theme, using Mediterranean-inspired colors, elegant fonts, and creative touches like grape vines and decorative leaves throughout the book. You’ll learn to use design tools to create your own artwork on iPads using Procreate, set up eye-catching page layouts, and even design the cover that everyone sees first! The best part? Your artistic choices – from the colors and fonts to the special details you add – will flow through the whole book, making it a uniquely creative masterpiece that tells your school’s story in style!
Writing
Want to become a published writer? In yearbook, you’ll learn how to tell real stories about real people in your school! You’ll get to interview students and teachers about everything from winning games to favorite traditions, turning their experiences into stories that will be read for years to come. We’ll teach you cool journalist tricks, like how to write attention-grabbing headlines and structure your stories to keep readers hooked. You’ll work with editors to make your stories shine, just like professional journalists do. The best part? When the yearbook comes out, you’ll see your name in print and know that you’ve helped preserve your school’s memories through your words. These writing skills will help you in high school, college, and beyond!
