The Academy Chronicle, known on campus as TAC Media, was founded in 2018, the same year as Mt. SAC Early College Academy (MECA), by a group of 6 students and one teacher. Originally published as a digital newsletter, the program transitioned to having an online website and a physical newspaper published twice a year. Today, TAC Media has more than 30 students who create stories, write articles, capture photos, record films and podcasts, and develop the yearbook. This website encapsulates articles, comics, galleries, brodcasts, podcasts, and more from MECA’s journalism program.
The mission of The Academy Chronicle, along with TimberTV and The Howler, is to inform and entertain our readers, giving them enough information about stories involving our community to allow them to craft their own opinion. Our audience consists of MECA students and teachers, as well as parents and community members. Our goal is to stay unbiased when it comes to giving our readers the facts, as well as bringing light to our lives when possible. Our publications value honesty, consistency, and reliability.
While our staff encourages constructive criticism of any of its media platforms and products, final authority for content rests solely in the hands of staff and, ultimately, the adviser. No material, opinionated or otherwise, will be published that is slanderous, libelous, irresponsible, or advocates illegal activity.
