With technology continuously progressing to form a better future, it’s replaced most occupations that people typically specialize in. Programs such as ChatGPT, an open AI (Artificial Intelligence) tool used to create whatever the user asks for, have been recognized by millions and counting.
Many other forms of AI have been around for a while, present in commercial items such as Coca Cola’s most recent holiday advertisement, which was created by their own version of AI, Real Magic AI.

Will this once manual world be taken over by AI services that perfect inconsistencies that humans are unable to detect and create images that better express ideas of companies willing to advertise their products using AI?
“I think AI is good to use, I think it’s a good tool, I mean we’re in the future, 20 years ago this would’ve been unheard of,” Michael [Patrick] Reyes, math teacher, says.
The development of AI shows an impressive technologic progression. Reyes believes it’s a helpful asset, as he uses it to send messages and communicate with people at times with a clearer tone of voice to get his points across.
“There are some things I don’t like about AI,” Reyes goes on to say. “I don’t like there’s no regulation on it. If they wanted to, they could use me in a video and change a bit of my likeness, and people would think it’s me. So I could go back at them and say they’re using my likeness, but they could say that it’s not me since they can claim they generate a person, they could make the ears different or whatever, so I think there are some really big risks to it.”
Reyes doesn’t appreciate the lackluster regulations applied to its usage, as someone can create a video of any person, make them say anything they want to, and claim it’s an original AI-generated character. He thinks it is important to focus on the management of AI, so there is never need to alter employment rates.
“There’s never a good thing when people start losing their jobs, but I do think that we’re ever gonna be like 100 years from now where there are only 75 jobs left because AI took everything else,” he explains.
When asked about this aspect of AI development, ChatGPT gave its own take.
“While AI will certainly make certain jobs redundant, it is also expected to create new jobs, especially in sectors involving AI development, maintenance, and innovation. The future will likely involve a shift toward more specialized or creative roles that AI can’t easily replicate.”

English Teacher Jeanne Berrong, who is a member of the West Covina Unified AI Committee, thinks that AI has developed consistently over the years, exponentially progressing to a more refined version over time.
“It’s beautiful and it’s surprising how advanced AI has come to be in such a short time, because if you look at things that were done, visuals that were done by AI a year ago, they look nothing like this — I was watching all those little details in the video, it’s amazing.”
“[I have] no problem with the commercial and think it’s pretty, it’s very nostalgic, I look at that and think it’s so nostalgic, it’s so advanced that I could see how it was a threat and how it could affect actors’ jobs” because of the sheer capabilities AI already has in these early stages of development.
Another industry she mentions concerns her husband who works as a graphic artist.
“In terms of marketing, I can see why marketing directors would want to use AI because you can imagine something in your mind and you can recreate that almost to the letter, and it saves you money, so there are lots of cost-saving measures.”
Once again, delving into the plausible cause of future trends in unemployment, Berrong thinks that AI will be so convenient that it will save industries money, likely leading to workers being laid off due to AI development.
“I think anytime someone uses AI, they should disclose it, if you have a job and your employer has to give you a performance review if they use AI to generate their performance review, I think they should put a note at the bottom saying ‘I used AI to generate this.'”
Berrong ultimately believes that AI development is good, and it’s very impressive how far it’s come in such a short amount of time,
With confusion surrounding the subject matter as well as the standard or professional knowledge desired to be revealed, AI is here to stay only to benefit financial circumstances and informative performance throughout media and technology. MECA staff members understand that AI is still in development and are looking forward to the future with a positive outlook.
