Alone on Valentine’s having to watch your friends being all lovey-dovey? Yeah, same here. But there’s no need to cry over it. You’re too hot for that. There’s still a lot of fun things you can do on the day of love without having a partner to celebrate with.

Have a picnic

One of the most fun things to do on Valentine’s Day is spend it with your friends, especially having a picnic with them. You guys can all bake or bring something to share. It’s enjoyable to lay on the grass, eat, and just talk together. It doesn’t even have to be an outdoor picnic; It could be lunch at a restaurant or cooking a meal together. Just spending time with your friends can take your mind off of the fact that you’re single and alone!

Do a Secret Admirer Gift Exchange

You’ve heard of secret santa but have you heard of a platonic secret admirer gift exchange? Neither have I, but it should be a thing. Similar to a secret santa, you draw names with a group of friends and you get to be the “secret admirer” for whoever you get. You get to have the same satisfaction of giving a gift to someone you love, but in a more platonic way!

Pamper yourself with a self-care day

Even if you aren’t spending time with someone else, you can always spend time by yourself. Take the day off for yourself and just do whatever you’d want to do! Go out and treat yourself, stay at home, buy gifts for yourself, bake, or get takeout from your favorite restaurant. There can still always be other things that you can do by yourself!

Buy clearance candy

The best part of valentine’s day is that it’s like a second Halloween! You go to any store and you see candy in pink wrapping, just waiting to be yanked off the shelf. Every year on February 15, the leftover Valentine’s candy gets put on sale. That is like the most magical time of year. It’s like Halloween candy came early!

Watch Rom-Com(s)

One of the most fun things to do is watch rom-coms and laugh at them. It puts you in a good mood and goes along with the theme of love. There are so many good romance movies to choose from. Some of my favorites being 10 Things I Hate About You, 50 First Dates, Corpse Bride, Wedding Singer, and Gremlins (there technically is a romance plot)!

Buy yourself gifts

You don’t need to have to rely on a partner to buy and give you gifts. You can always buy some gifts for yourself, such as chocolate, flowers, teddy bears, and your favorite candy. A form of buying a gift for yourself can also be spending money on a manicure or facial.

Valentines isn’t all about spending the day with a partner. It’s about love, and that love could be towards friends or self love. It doesn’t have to be romantic. The most important thing about Valentine’s Day, if you celebrate or don’t, is just ensuring that you’re happy and well.
