Happy Scholastic Journalism Week 2021!

The theme of this week is What We Do Matters in order to remind ourselves and others of the importance of the first amendment and a free press.

The Journalism Education Association puts on this week in order to recognize and celebrate journalism in the classroom, as well as to educate others in the importance of journalism, a free press and the first amendment. The theme for this year is “What We Do Matters.” In celebration, schools around the country are using the hashtags #SJW2021 and #WhatWeDoMatters in order to showcase student journalists and their hard work.

In honor of this week, The Academy Chronicle staff worked together to think about why what we do matters and created the following mission statement:

The mission of The Academy Chronicle is to inform and/or entertain our readers, the students, parents and staff of Mt. SAC ECA, with stories about our local and world communities giving them enough unbiased information, and in some cases giving our own opinions, to allow them to craft their own opinions.

Thank you very much to all of our wonderful staff and readers! We love our MECA community!
