Fortnite: Then and Now
Marvel and some of its mightiest heroes have joined the Fortnite universe with new places to land, things to see, mysteries to be discovered, and the fate of reality to be saved in the newest season of Fortnight Battle Royale.
Fortnite is a free to play 3rd person Battle Royale game with cross platforms, meaning it can be played alongside different console players such as PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, Mobile, and PC. While Fortnite was first released in 2017, it gained its popularity in 2018 when millions of people began playing.
Fortnite is not like any other Battle Royale game. Yes, this game does have weapons and a zone that shrinks over time, and yes, it has a battle pass with different skins and cosmetics, but the twist is that there is a feature called “building” where players are able to use materials such as wood, brick, and metal to build objects such as walls, floors, ramps, and pyramids. In order to get these materials, players have something called a pickaxe. It’s mainly used to gather materials to be able to build and sometimes damage opponents. You can also edit these builds to make openings on walls, floors, and pyramids; you can even edit doors and windows. Fortnite was nearly all anyone could talk about in the year 2018; people had fun making buildings, playing with friends, trick shots and so much more.
Fortnite also had something called seasons, and each season represents a different theme such as Halloween, Christmas, Desert, Treasure/Pirates, Futuristic, and even the Past. Different reviews say that each season gets better and worse in its own way, but overall it’s still a great game. However, during 2019 the game started to lose some of its popularity. The reason for this is because since the game had been out for over a year, many people had become really good at the game, so good that it became annoying for many people. Although there are still millions of people to this day who play Fortnite there was still some hate.
However this year, Fortnite has done a season collaboration with Marvel and some of its mighty heroes including Thor, She-Hulk, Groot, Storm, Doctor Doom, Mystique, Wolverine, and Iron Man along with Silver Surfer who was available for purchase in the in-game store. This season will get better and better as it progresses. So far it’s great, but soon it will get a whole lot better. In this season not only are there new heroes, but there are also new weapons and old weapons coming back to the game. It’s going to be one heck of a ride!
