Freshman Daniel Martinez is ready for action and plans to pursue his college education here at Mt. SAC Early College Academy (MECA). He first heard of this school through his two older siblings, Annabelle and Angelina Martinez, who were both former ASB presidents at MECA. They were heavily involved at our school and have inspired him to join ASB, and he hopes to follow in their footsteps.
When Martinez started researching more about the school, he loved the close-knit environment it provided, and the educational opportunities to grow and gain college experience while completing high school at the same time. He liked the idea of earning different college credits and having them covered by the school. He also appreciated that the staff and teachers pushed for student success.
¨I want to go into business, get a simple job, and just succeed in what I do.,¨ said Martinez. By attending MECA, Martinez has been able to earn college credits and pursue his associate’s degree in business, which he sees as a huge benefit towards his future. With each class he takes, he learns new concepts and gets a glimpse into what his future career might look like.
During club rush, Martinez was able to sign up for a multitude of clubs, such as the Finance Club, Antlers Club, and Key Club. When the opportunity arises, he ¨ participates and helps.” He hopes that through these clubs, he will be able to volunteer and find new learning opportunities. Heś excited to meet new people and build long-lasting friendships.
He is also an active member of ASB. You can always spot him helping set up and clean up for ASB-organized events. Martinez thoroughly enjoys being a part of ASB and has high hopes for future events.

“I want to make a name for myself and do what will help me in [the future],¨ said Martinez. He is determined to make a difference and use the resources provided towards his student success and personal goals.
In his free time, he likes to play video games, sports, and spend time with his family. One of his all-time favorite artists is Bad Bunny, My parents listen to him, my sisters, and then it’s kind of like a family thing that we all listen to.¨ His favorite song of his is DtMF by Bad Bunny.
He also enjoys playing fetch and teaching his dog new tricks. He says¨ She´s a six-year-old. She´s a I think Maltese mix.¨ After school, he loves to hang out with his dog and create long-lasting memories.

Outside of classes, He is part of the MECA flag football team and has played wide receiver, defense, and quarterback. He says,¨ I like trying different sports. So, like, the main ones are basketball, soccer, football, and sometimes when I move my friends, I’ll play, like baseball or good football.¨
Some of his favorite teams and players are Lebron James from the Lakers basketball team and George Kittle from the San Francisco 49ers. He finds them very inspirational due to their impact on the team and how happy and positive they always are.¨ He strives to have a positive impact on his teammates and friends and wants people to know that he is determined, passionate, and caring.
Daniel Martinez is excited for this new chapter in his life, so if you see him at MECA, make sure to say “Hi.”
“I’m very friendly,” he said.
